HERE'S WHAT JOGA HAS TO OFFER

We have created this beautiful studio with the intention of uniting the many talented and dedicated yoga teachers, Pilates and movement instructors on the island. Joga’s mission is to offer an inspired health and wellness experience, dedicated to nurturing the whole self: mind, body and spirit.
 
The classes we offer are as varied as the teachers from all over the world who have found their way to the island. Whether you are looking for a space to unwind and release your stresses, an energizing workout, a community in which to share and grow, or the guidance to tune back in and ground yourself... Joga has an offering that is right for you.  
 
New to yoga? We offer beginner classes, as well as Intro to Yoga workshops.
 
Need to work up a sweat? Join one of our Vinyasa or Power Vinyasa classes.
 
Want to express yourself? Join one of our dance classes.
 
Want to build strength?
Join a Redemption Pilates or Yoga Sculpt class.

YOGA

Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa means “movement linked with breath.” Postures are strung together in a short or longer flow.
This style of yoga is often quite dynamic, which requires the mind to stay focused in the present to be able to keep up. Focusing keeps you from drifting off and helps you to be present in your body rather than stuck in your head. All levels welcome.

 
Yin ~ Candlelight Yin ~ Yin & Yoga Nidra
While Yang is related to heat and movement, Yin is the challenge of finding stillness and release. A quiet and meditative class of mostly seated or reclined long stretches each held for 3-5 minutes or more. Going even deeper than muscles to gently target the connective tissues such as joints, tendons, ligaments and fascia mostly in the lower portion of the body such as hips, glutes, hamstrings, and lower back. Guided meditation accompanies this practice for focus and calming of the mind. A beautiful compliment to active lifestyles and yoga practices.

Slow Flow
This class is like taking the scenic drive home. Taking our time to build a deeper awareness within the body while working our way into deep stretching.
 
Iyengar
Iyengar Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga that focuses on mobility, stability, strength and alignment. The use of props allows students of all ages and abilities to practice with a deepening awareness that penetrates the layers of their being and leads to meditation in action.
 
Light on Iyengar
This class introduces the principles of yoga and the Iyengar system, teaching the fundamentals of body alignment to prevent injury through yoga postures. Students with limitations or previous injuries will be supported to develop a safe, strong and steady practice, understanding its beneficial effects. The course will focus on classical standing poses, seated poses and relaxation poses, bringing the student safely towards back bends and inversions. It is the perfect choice for new students, students looking to build a stronger foundation to their practice or the ones looking to challenge their body and mind.

Hatha Flow
The foundation of all asana practice, focusing on proper alignment of asana, holding each posture statically for 5 to 8 breaths, using pranayama to deepen your physical, emotional and mental strength while calming your mind and body.
 
Slow Flow & Meditation
This class is specifically designed for you to slow down, breathe deeply and move mindfully.
We will focus on deepening and lengthening the breath and slowly moving from one pose to another. This will help you release stress, calm your mind, slow down your heartrate and getting more in tune with yourself and your body.

Closing off with a mindful breathing meditation this class will leave you relaxed, calm & refreshed.
This class is perfect for beginners to experience slow and mindful movement, and for more experienced yogis that want to add more depth and awareness into their practice.
 
Yoga Sculpt
Turn stress into sweat. This signature class strengthens, balances and detoxifies your entire body and mind as you move through more challenging postures and connected breath. Set to an energizing playlist, you’ll power up your yoga practice like never before.

Advanced Yoga Flow
This class is for anyone looking to take their yoga practice to the next level. It is the same type of juicy flow you are used to sprinkled with fun, yummy advanced postures. All levels are welcome but be prepared to step out of your comfort zone and into possibility!
 
Gentle Flow
Slow and sweet and low - that is the tempo of this gentle practice. This class is primarily deep stretch with some elements of easeful, rhythmic movement and a super mellow soundtrack. All levels welcome and is a great for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. A gentle version of our signature vinyasa classes that explores strength and mobility at a more modified pace with straightforward transitions between shapes. Allowing students to feel more rooted throughout the session. Core strength and stability are challenged, but plenty of time is dedicated to flexibility as well. By exploring balance, you’ll find your center.
 
Gentle Flow / Beginners
A gentle and mindful practice with a focus on strengthening and stretching that promotes flexibility and relaxation. Beginners are welcome.

Flow
An active and energetic class. Postures are strung together in a flow. This style of yoga is often quite dynamic, which requires the mind to stay focused in the present to be able to keep up. Focusing keeps you from drifting off and helps you to be present in your body rather than stuck in your head. All levels welcome.
 
Karma Class  (Pay-What-You-Can)
This class is by pay-what-you-can donation and is taught in various styles by rotating instructors. (Check out our weekly schedule for more info!)
 
All money collected will be donated to the Freegan Food Foundation to help those in need in our community. Let's come together! Practice yoga and help others at the same time! See you on your mats!
 
Kundalini Yoga
An uplifting blend of spiritual and physical practices, Kundalini Yoga incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and the chanting of mantras, such as Sat Nam, meaning "truth is my identity." The goal is to build physical vitality and increase consciousness.
 
Power Vinyasa
Power Vinyasa is a powerful, energetic form of yoga, moving fluidly from one pose to the next while connecting breath to the movements. A challenging and inspired class, designed to build strength and increase flexibility. 
 
Sunday Flow
Sleep in on your Sunday morning and join us for a mid morning class. Smooth movement to wake up your body. Leave feeling revitalized and blissed out. 
 
Prenatal Yoga & Birth Preparation
A class that allows the mom-to-be to gently and safely support her changing body, while simultaneously lifting her mind and spirit. A series of postures, relaxation techniques and breath work is practiced in preparation for the birthing event, helping her to feel empowered. Each class also offers an opportunity to connect with other pregnant women in a nurturing environment.


Mindful Slow Flow
A mindful practice combining meditation and slow movement through seated, standing and reclined postures. Begin with breathing exercises to tune into the body, and a light guided meditation to focus the mind. Move through slow paced poses taking time for modifications to find alignment, and use of props to deepen each pose. Complete the class with restful Savasana and silent closing meditation. A class for those of all levels that enjoy meditation and slow yet deep movement to feel refreshed, relaxed, and centered.

PILATES

Redemption Pilates
Redemption Pilates is a contemporary style of this classic form of body sculpting exercises. It combines strength-building and core work, and uses the breath to facilitate a mind-body connection. Known for creating long, lean, and strong muscles, this class will make you sweat, tone, feel refreshed and have fun! After all, this is Sint Maarten... we can all use a little Redemption! 

Fit Fusion
Fit Fusion combines the core firming, muscle sculpting benefits of Pilates and the cardio and strength of high intensity interval training (HIIT). This class is designed to transform your physique through a fusion of exercises that will tone, slim and stretch your entire body.

ADULT DANCE CLASSES

Adult Ballet
This class will focus on ballet foundations, technique, posture, alignment and artistic expression. Following a classical ballet class structure, we will begin with barre exercises and transition to the center to work on connecting steps, adagio, jumps and turns to find the artist within. All levels welcome.
 
Adult Contemporary/Jazz
This class will alternate every 3 weeks, between Contemporary & Jazz.


Contemporary: Integrating ballet & modern technique, Contemporary dance focuses on freedom of movement; allowing you to feel the music, and express your emotions and personality through dance.

Jazz: Sassy an.d stylized, Jazz dance can be high energy, or smooth and sexy, bringing out your inner diva!
Both classes will start with a stretch warm-up, across the floor technique, and finish with a choreographed dance combo

Adult Hip Hop
This Hip Hop based dance class is inspired by various styles of street dance...from soca, afro beats to dancehall. We start with an upbeat warm up, designed to prepare the body as well as to get you in the right energy, followed by a choreographed combo for optimum fun and sweat!


KIDS CLASSES(AGES 7-12 YEARS)

Kids Contemporary
Integrating ballet & modern technique, Contemporary dance focuses on freedom of movement; allowing you to feel the music, explore emotions, and give personal expression to your performance. Classes will start with a stretch warm-up, across the floor technique, and finish with a choreographed dance combo.
 
Kids Hip Hop
This Hip Hop based dance class is inspired by various styles of street dance...from soca, afro beats to dancehall. We start with an upbeat warmup, designed to prepare the body as well as to get you in the right mood, followed by a high energy choreographed combo that will encourage you to bring your own unique style and personality to the moves!
 
*Please bring clean and comfortable running shoes to dance in.
 
Kids Jazz
A fun and high-energy dance style that's sure to make you sweat! Think high kicks, jumps and turns set to your favourite upbeat pop music!
 
Kids Yoga
A safe space for kids to learn and practice mindfulness. Incorporating yoga poses, breathing exercises and games to build confidence, balance and peace within.
 
Kids Musical Theatre & Acting Improv
This fun class will get your acting juices flowing. We will start off with a warm-up, then some Acting Improv games to bring you out of your shell, get to know your fellow classmates, and make you laugh! The second half of class will focus on choreographed dance and acting to popular showtunes from your favourite musicals!
